Staycation at the Best Western Okemos East Lansing Hotel and Suites

I've been going out mostly just for grocery and home supplies shopping for the past 8 months so it was a nice breath of fresh air to see a different side of Michigan. We did this by going to East Lansing during one of our free weekends.

While we were looking for a hotel who had a whirlpool bathtub in the hotel room while still within our $100 - $170 budget, we stumbled across Best Western Hotels which just opened a branch in East Lansing.

My husband has stayed in another Best Western Hotel and liked the great rooms at relatively affordable price points.

Hotel Suite With a Whirlpool Bathtub

We paid $159 (with tax) through Travelocity for this room one week before we stayed there. The inclusions, according to their website, were:

  • Separate Bedroom
  • Kitchenette
  • Non-Smoking
  • Whirlpool Bathtub
  • Sofabed
  • Full Breakfast

I thought that it was really a good deal for what we paid for but I was shocked when we got to our hotel room.

It was way better than I expected. The suite was very spacious. I bet it could hold up to 10 people in there.

The kitchenette came with a Keurig for our morning coffee and some tea bags.

The sofa bed was very comfortable and I wouldn't have known it was a sofa bed if I didn't read it from their website.

The bedside lamps came with one outlet each so charging during the night was very convenient.

The highlight of our stay was the whirlpool bathtub. It was my first time to experience relaxing in that kind of bathtub and I was just floating around the whole time like my body was combining with the hot water.

That won't be the last time, for sure.

The closet came with an iron, ironing board, extra sheets, and pillows, plus laundry bags for the in-house laundry service (which is not included in the hotel price).

The bathroom was also very spacious and came with Bath and Body Works toiletries.

Spacious Common Areas for Guests

There is also a lobby for eating, surfing the net, or lounging. This area also comes with a mini coffee bar.

The lobby is right across the indoor pool which a lot of the other guests with their kids enjoyed swimming while it was snowing during our stay there.

A gym is also available for health nuts.

Final Thoughts

We will definitely go back to the Best Western Okemos East Lansing Hotel and Suites.  It's definitely a bang for your buck if you want a chill staycation in Michigan.

And since we were already in the area, here's an obligatory tourist photo of the Michigan State Capitol which was close to Best Western Okemos.
